We named our classic style P90 the Pilgrim because we believe that people who choose to play a guitar loaded with P90s must be on a religious quest for great tone! The Pilgrim is a traditional style P90 made exactly the same way as in the good old days. Slightly under-wound, this P90 is clean enough for use in hollow-body guitars, but endowed with a sound full enough to crank up the blues in your LP Junior. Wound with Plain Enamel wire, Alnico 3 magnets.
Wound hotter than the Pilgrim, the Rambler packs a throaty punch and a full midrange, making it an ideal pickup for the classic Leslie West tone. Roll off the treble just a hair, and imagine you're taking a sleigh ride somewhere in Nantucket, while the wagons leave the city! Wound with Poly Awg42 wire and Alnico 5 magnets, this is closer to late 60s versions.
This bad boy needs taming like a Wild Horse! The philosophy behind the Badass was to create an extremely punchy P90 style pickup using an Alnico 6 for the neck position (or Alnico 8 in the bridge) but at the same time under-winding it to take away some mids and add high end and clarity. This is our way in designing and building the most full sounding and powerful "singe coil" pickup which can be paired up with any humbucker and still manage to keep up volume wise when switching from the Humbucking bridge position to the P90 in the neck. This way your guitar can gain a versatility like never seen before. Once installed on your guitar, the Badass fully justifies it's name offering you what no other P90 has ever done before! This guy you can play but you can't mess with 'cause he really IS... a BADASS.
All of our single coil pickups are hand-wound as we strongly believe that this is the only way to build a great sounding pickup. Machine-wound pickups lack in treble response as well as in dynamics and therefore sound absolutely lifeless.
